(left to right-Lawrence Taylor, Phil Simms, Tiki Barber and Amani Toomer)
Paul and picked their faces for the NEW YORK GIANTS Mount Rushmore on Tuesday morning!
Paul and Zas agreed on TWO of the four, both selected:
Lawrence Taylor:
One of the most dominant linebackers to ever play the game, LT has the 2nd most sacks in Giants history with 132.5 and led the league in 1986 with 20.5 – the same year he won NFL MVP. The sack master also won NFL Defensive Player of the Year awards in 1981, 82 and 86, Rookie of the Year in 1981 and was selected to 10 Pro Bowls…and, oh yeah, he helped lead the New York Giants to wins in Super Bowl XXI and XXV.
Phil Simms:
Now a color commentator for the NFL on CBS, Simms had a 95-64 career record and threw for 33,462 yards (most in franchise history) and 199 TDs in 14 seasons as a Giant. He led the 1986 team to a Super Bowl, winning the Super Bowl MVP in the process, and was 11-3 with 15 TDs and only 4 INTs during the 1990 season before breaking his foot and missing the rest of the season – a season which ended in the Giants’ second Super Bowl victory.
Paul's other two selections...
Eli Manning:
A two time Super Bowl Champion (XLII and XLVI) and two time Super Bowl MVP and 3 time Pro Bowler, Manning has thrown for 31,527 career yards and 211 career touchdowns after 9 seasons with Big Blue. His season high for touchdowns came in 2010 with 31, and last season he was 4th in the league with a career high 4,933 yards. In 2007 and 2011 he lead the NFL in game winning drives with 6 and 8 respectively.
Michael Strahan:
A Super Bowl Champion (XLII), seven time Pro Bowler and four time First-Team All Pro, Strahan was a constant force on the Giants’ defensive line. Strahan holds the sack record with 22.5 in 2001 and won the NFL AP Defensive Player of the Year award for that performance. He also led the NFL in sacks in 2003 with 18.5 and is 5th on the all time list with 141.5.
Amani Toomer:
The Giants’ all-time leader in receiving yards and receiving TDs, Toomer had his best statistical season in 2002 when he was 3rd in the NFL in yards (1,343), 9th in TDs (8) and had a 16.4 YPC average (2nd highest in his career). Toomer also returned kicks, leading the NFL in yards per punt return in 1996 with an average of 16.6 YPR. You can hear Amani on the Amani and Eytan Show on Fox Sports Radio 1410 weeknights from 10p to 1a.
Tiki Barber:
The Giants all time leading rusher, 3-time Pro Bowler and one time First Team All-Pro, Tiki Barber rushed for 55 career touchdowns and 10,449 yards. He rushed for over 1000 yards 5 straight seasons, 6 seasons overall and was 2nd in the league in rushing in 2005 with 1860 yards. He also had 12 career receiving touchdowns. In 2005, he lead the NFL in touches with 411.
