The Radio Program Director position is a leadership and operations role with responsibility for leading and managing all aspects of ensuring a successful radio program (including on air talent and content) and station (including all facets of daily broadcasts). A successful radio program director will decide which programs and commercials will be broadcast, as well as determining music play lists and scheduling programming. This position is one of 850+ program directors who work in over 850 radio stations across the United States. The Radio Program Director reports to the Operations Manager.
Required Skills:
The Radio Program Director is responsible for:
Directing the entire on-air experience of the station, including tone, sound, or theme, and attracting audience share with new ideas and vision.
Working with both the GM and sales manager in support of local and corporate business objectives including increasing local market share and listeners, ratings, and revenue.
Implementing content and development of station’s website, social media activities, and online presence to deepen listener relationships (e.g., Facebook, contests, Twitter, etc.).
Working with the sales department to ensure that advertising is appealing and effective, and that the station is claiming a fair share of the broadcast market.
Overseeing the promotion and execution of all events of the given radio station, as well as managing and approving advertising / external marketing plans, design, and creative.
Working closely with the station manager to ensure that ratings are calculated and that advertisers are satisfied.
Overseeing all radio commercial copy or ads, and approving what can / can’t be said on air.
Decisioning paid programming scheduling in partnership with sales manager.
Planning each day's radio programming and providing the radio DJ / audio engineer direction on content for the live radio broadcast.
Negotiating, managing, and maintaining key talent under contract (eg, frequent listening/aircheck sessions with on air talent).
Interviewing, hiring, training, and directing DJs and other on-air talent, along with producers.
Daily PM Drive Airshift
Creating work schedules for the available pool of on-air talent and scheduling each week's schedule allowing for time off, vacations, and sick days.
Managing team members in maintaining community service and appropriate information for the station’s public file.
Working with the Operations Manager to make sure staff has taken/passed/maintained all company programs, plans, and training (RBI, Payola/Plugola).
Assisting the Operations Manager, GM, and Business Manager on budget preparation and implementation on a yearly, quarterly, and monthly basis.
Handling all payables according to company policy and paid in a prompt fashion.
Protecting the station license.

Required Qualifications
The Radio Program Director must possess:
Experience and competency in using tools to gather data and in analyzing data to make sounds business decisions required (eg, PD Advantage, Feature Tracker, etc.).
Must be proficient with Arbitron diary methodology.
Working knowledge of Arbitron software.
High level of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat.
Knowledge and appreciation of diverse music genres, excellent on-air performance, familiarity with radio programming.
Prior experience as a broadcaster, either in news, sports, or as a DJ preferred.
Must be outgoing, enjoy working in a team environment, communicate effectively and be prepared to assist with station event planning and execution, as directed.
Must be versatile and willing to assist sister stations in the Clear Channel Cluster as needed.
Must have a strong knowledge and understanding of social media platforms and must be comfortable operating within the stations' websites.
Must be 18 years or older and able to work a flexible schedule (including weekend and evening events) up to 29 hours a week.
Must work well under pressure, and have the willingness and ability to learn how to operate promotional equipment.
Knowledge of Excel, Word Processing, Database Entry, accurate typing abilities, and proficient phone skills needed.
Must possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
Ability to lift objects in excess of 25 lbs. is required.
Duties also include the set-up and breakdown of promotional event equipment.
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
